VA Attorney General Wins Rights Fight WIth GM

We are pleased to report that Virginia's Attorney General Bill Mims, along with the Attorneys General of 36 other states, succeeded in winning the fight to retain the state franchise laws.

The court entered language agreed to by New GM and by the state attorneys general and attorneys who have been negotiating on behalf of dealers to make clear that state dealer laws will apply to the dealers going forward with participation agreements and that the bankruptcy court will not hear disputes about those agreements. This is a substantial change from the order originally proposed.
